Our little walker

So, Riley started taking steps right at 9 months....and never looked back. After just a week or two, he was pretty much walking full-time. He is 10 months now, and he does not crawl AT ALL anymore.

Poor thing got a tummy bug and then a bacterial infection, so he was sick for about 2 weeks. He lost almost 2 pounds, so we're working on making him a little piggy to gain it all back and more!

Rilester Turns 3....months!

RQ will be 3 months tomorrow! I can't believe it! He started school 2 weeks ago, and he already has his first cold. Poor guy has been sneezing and hacking up stuff for the last 3 days. He's a trooper, though...he has slept through the night since his first day of school...even with his cold. He smiles and coos and gurgles so much now, so it's a ton of fun!

Hook 'Em

Gotta start him early! This is an old pic, but I love it. Every night I read him a Hook 'Em Horns bedtime story. He is 5 weeks now. 9 lbs, 8 oz. 21.5 inches long.
Marissa and Andrew came by yesterday to see us! Can't wait for Andrew to rough up Riley a little and make him tough. :) Andrew makes me painfully aware of how much we have to do around this house to get ready for this guy to be movin' around...what with the shredder out in the middle of the floor. Thanks for the motivation!
MJ and I get to take our first outing together ALONE since the boy arrived. We have a wedding on Saturday! It'll be fun to actually get dressed up, put on make-up and leave the boy behind for a few hours with Grammie and Aunt Kaila.

40 weeks

So, today is my actual due date, but luckily Riley came early (always early, just like his Daddy)! Starting having contractions around 7pm on Sunday, March 22nd. By the time we got to the hospital around midnight, I was 4cm dilated and almost fully effaced. The contractions were so freakin' unbearable at that point...my whole body was shaking! They gave me the epidural within the first hour I was there. It was totally stressin' me out that I could not feel my legs at all. And I could see my gigantic feet, but I could not move them.

After that, I dilated about 1 cm per hour, and I was at 10cm at 10am. Started pushing at 10:15 am, and Riley was born at 11:02 am. Such a cool experience. I wasn't sure I wanted to see what was going on, but they brought in a mirror and it really was the coolest thing to see my child being born! I'm totally biased, but he's so handsome!

He makes the cutest sound after he sneezes that I've tried to capture on my camara, but I'm always too late. I'll keep trying.

36 weeks

OK, so this pic is actually from 35 weeks, but not TOO much has changed. Although, I think he has actually "dropped" since then. And finally I have cankles! The swelling has set in! :(
I will not be sharing any pics of that, but you can imagine. Can't wait to go home and put my feet up w/ a big bag of frozen broccoli on my ankles!!!!

Our current children - Cindy and Jeri

These are our two girls! We're hoping they will warm up to Riley.

Countdown - 50 days

So, I am not very good at this blog thing. MJ is a very good writer, so hopefully he will take over once Riley is here! Only 50 more days to go (or hopefully less)!

We had our "fast track" childbirth class on Saturday, so it's starting to become all too real for both of us! MJ has been washing all of the clothes we have for Riley so far, and he's been decorating his room. We finally assembled his crib, and it looks great!

We have been so blessed to have so many wonderful people give us things for Riley...and things to help me through this pregnancy! We have not had to really buy (yet) one piece of big furniture, and we already have so many onesies and cute outfits for Riley to start out with. And I have been loaned many pieces of maternity clothes to help me as I continually expand! We feel so lucky to have such great family and friends in our lives. Thanks for everything!

We just put down a deposit to hold our spot at a local church's early childhood center, so we are happy to have that taken care of before he arrives. Many more things to do, though.
